Situation
Three Police Forces wanted to refresh their digital strategy, strengthen and expand their role in supporting victims of crime and bringing offenders to justice, and ensure a continued excellent ICT service for police officers, staff, and the public in the years ahead.
The strategy was designed to enable improvement and development of new technologies, improve service management and invest in new capabilities required to deliver innovative IT services and has been fully aligned with broader operational strategies across tri-force.
Action / Approach
BIP provided the several Project Management interventions in addition to standard PM responsibilities.
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation across police forces to ensure strategic reviews were captured to gain support and buy in for the new strategy and understand areas which needed to be developed and included.
- Design of new digital Vision, Mission, strategic design principles and objectives. These principles shaped every strategic element, drawing them together into a cohesive strategy.
- Creation and design of high level costed roadmap ensuring consultation workshops delivered with relevant stakeholders. Roadmaps were created for each Digital Strategic objective to demonstrate key products being delivered, delivery status and timeframes for completion
Result(s)
- Developed a forward-thinking digital strategy, modelled to ensure the creation of a value for money IT service and improved services that engage a future focused innovation and data driven three-year strategy (2024-2027).
- Five-year high-level costed roadmap from 2024-29. The roadmap demonstrated activities that needed to be delivered to ensure their strategic objectives could be achieved and outcomes delivered.
