Situation
The R&D Early Pipeline group of a top pharmaceutical company faced challenges due to inconsistent project methodologies across therapeutic areas. This led to convoluted processes, lack of ownership, and difficulties in data consolidation and normalisation for reporting to senior management, ultimately increasing organisational risk.
To address these challenges, the company implemented a new Operating Model, combining support functions for the therapeutic areas and establishing a single standard. BIP supported the client in creating a central Project Management Excellence group to provide guidance, standards, and quality assurance while consolidating the disparate methodologies into one unified approach.
Result(s)
Legacy methodologies and sites were decommissioned, and single methodology, online PM Handbook and virtual support assistant was implemented to strict timeline. To maintain the handbook a network of Chapter Champions were identified with a supporting team made up from the different areas, and a review and update process was rolled out to ensure that the all outputs remained up to date and accurate within the changing environment.
Testimonial
“I particularly appreciated the versatility, knowledge and drive of the BIP team in being able to bring different BIP experts in at different stages of the project to truly deliver on the ambition set out by the team.”
